The Coventry to Brighton Run

The Coventry to Brighton Run

The Coventry to Brighton Run is an annual event currently organised by the Midlands Section of the VMCC. The first run was back in 1962 and it wasn't long before VMCC members from down South started to join in the fun. For us, it is necessary to get to the start in Coventry of course, so we ride up to Coventry on the Friday, stay in a B&B over night and then join the Midlands Section for the Coventry to Brighton Run on the Saturday. In the early years, we southerners were organised by East Sussex Section member, the late Bill Bailey. The Friday run up to Coventry is known as the Bill Bailey Memorial Run in his memory.

Held on the Friday, we meet at the Chalet Cafe in Cowfold to ride up to Coventry. Route sheets including details of lunch and tea stops are provided at the start. We will be leaving the Chalet at 9:30 but most members get there early enough to have a breakfast first. Let us know if you are joining us so we bring enough route sheets and don't leave without you!

This years run will take place on:

Held on the Saturday, the run starts from The Coventry Transport Museum where route sheets are handed out for the trip to Brighton. This run needs to be entered in advance and entry forms can be downloaded below and sent directly to Bob Badland - secretary of the Midlands Section. Email him at: badbobland@hotmail.com

On the Friday night the members of the Midlands Section are kind enough to invite all riders and passengers to a dinner at the Best Western Windmill Village Hotel. Please state on your entry form if you plan to take them up on this offer. Most of the East Sussex members who travel up on the Friday also stay at this hotel overnight. If you'd like to do this as well please book with the hotel directly.
If you'd like to join us for this or any event you would be very welcome.
