News

Here you will find news of some of what the section has been up to recently, as well as requests for information and help from members. If you can help them, please get in touch. If you feel you need help with a project or a search for information, contact us and we will post your request here for all to see.

In addition to the information on this page, the East Sussex Section maintain a list of members’ email addresses so that we can keep everyone informed of any last minute changes to any of our events. We also use it to pass on any communication we receive from Headquarters at Allen House and from any other sections. If you are a member and would like to keep in touch in this way, let us have your email address and it will be added to the list.

Rest assured that your email address will only be used as a means of keeping you informed of news as outlined above. Your email address will not be passed on or sold to any third party and your privacy will always be respected by ensuring that all these emails are sent to ‘undisclosed recipients’ – no one on the list will be able to see who else is on the list. If, at any time, you no longer wish to receive these emails please let us know and your email address will be removed from the list.

50+ bikes from 1910 to the 1980's were on show on a stunning Saturday afternoon in Ashburnham. The weather was good, lots of people turned out to look at the display and we even saw England win their quarter final on the big screen. More than £500 was raised for the Air Ambulance and a good time was had by all. Class and overall winners will be announced at our club night and we'll post the results here afterwards.

Evening Run to The Star, Waldron - 27/06/18
Thirty odd bikes set off from HQ for a 30—40 mile run round the roads of East Sussex finishing at ‘The Star Inn' at Waldron. Probably as many again went straight to the Star. Take into account the pub's regular customers plus our friends from the Surrey and Sussex Section who ended their own run there and it all adds up to probably our best attended event of the year to date. The weather probably had something to do with it and ‘Paul the Pub's’ generosity with sausage and chips made available to everyone probably helped too! Thanks Paul.
Bill Bailey and Coventry to Brighton Run 20/04/18 and 21/04/2018

12 section members made the annual trip to the midlands to take part in the Coventry to Brighton run organised by the Midlands Section. Fantastic weather in both directions helped to ensure everyone had a great time. If you'd like to join us next year have a look at our page on the run here, and Contact Us if you have any questions.
Club Night - 11/04/18
This meeting was one of the last meet and greet natter nights of the winter. This time next month we'll have started our evening runs. We had a very good turnout with over 30 members attending and a good number on bikes. The improved weather must be encouraging people to start coming out in the evenings again, good to see!
Club Night - 28/03/18
Thanks to Dave Masters for organising a fun quiz for all who attended.
South of England Classic Show and Bike Jumble - 25/03/18
Another successful and enjoyable day was had at the Ardingly Show. Thanks to the members who displayed their bikes and congratulations to Malcolm Stanford for getting first prize for his freshly restored 1937 Rudge Ulster.

We'll be having another stand at the next show on July 15th and we are always looking to display some different bikes. Regardless of age or condition, if you'd like to put your bike on our stand please Contact Us.
Club Night - 14/03/18
A good turn out. The first chance to natter about the AGM results with some very good contributions to the discussion from members. Martin won the raffle prize - congratulations. And finally, a big welcome to new member Jim who was joining us for the first time.

Club Night 24/01/2018
January's event night was a bring and buy sale to raise money for club funds. 24 members enjoyed the evening and helped to raise £130 for club funds. Thanks to the generosity of those that got involved, both by bidding on parts and donating the items for sale. The money raised at events like this all helps towards paying for running expenses including this website and the printing of the calendar.
John Wilson's Tiger Cub
John has recently purchased a 1958 Tiger Cub which he has been told used to belong to someone in the East Sussex Section. He would be very grateful for any news of previous owners or history of the bike. If you can help, contact us and we'll pass your details on to him.

Club Night 10/01/2018
January's natter night had a visit from three officials of the VMCC management committee. They included John Donaldson (director), Tim Penn (South East area rep), and Gavin Shaw (incoming South East area rep). They were able to give the members at the meeting an update on the goings on at HQ as well as answer a number of questions from the floor. This was a very useful and informative meeting and we would like to thank all three of them for coming.
